Our basement is leaking during rain and we want to fix it. The problem is probably from a crack in the concrete foundation. So far we have got four different ways to fix it from several contractors.
1. Use high pressure injection of urethane either from exterior or interior
2. Use high pressure injection of epoxy either from exterior or interior
3. Use "expanding cement" to fill the crack from exterior then coat the surface with some waterprofing material
4. Use asphalt to fill the crack from exterior then cover the surface with some waterprofing material

We totally lost and don't know which way is the best to go. Our purpose is to fix the problem thoroughly so that water won't come into the basement again. Unfortunately we cannot find a reliable waterprofing specialist here in Vancouver. Could you pls. answer our questions? Thx.

Your question is a difficult one. 1)There are several ways to take care of your problem. Each contractor will highlight the advantages of their method. In my professional opinion, if your crack is not structural, rather a normal shrinkage crack, I would recommend a method called FlexiSpan. Check your area yellow pages for a Basement Systems Dealer or call the National Office of Basement Systems for a Basement Systems dealer near you. (1-800-541-0487)
Hope this helps SteveA
