I have a sump pump which works just fine. However I usually begin to pump sometime in February or early March, depending on how much rain/snow or melting has gone on.
I run about 90' of 1 1/2" hose above the ground from the house to back of the yard where there is a ditch.
The problem is that there is always water that stays in the hose after the pump shuts off because the land is fairly level. When the pump comes on again the water that remained in the hose is frozen. Of course then the pump will start but water can't get through. I am afraid the pump will overheat and cause a fire.
Any guideance would be appreciated
