Our home is located near a lake. Water table is very high, especially in the spring. We were told that the house was originally built with a full cellar (in 1969). The cellar was then partially filled to attempt to go above the water table. (without success) We installed a sump pump that takes care of the water as it coming in. There is sometimes a smell in the house coming from the cellar, usually in the spring when things are damp. Or when the humidity is very high for several days. Any ideas?

I would recommend that you encapsulation the crawl space with CleanSpace (see our movie on crawl spaces). I would also recommend that once you install the CleanSpace that the vents be sealed closed and that you install a SaniDry Basement Air System in the crawl space.
