View Full Version : foundation height

The land surrounding an addition to my house isn't properly graded and during heavy rain, water pitches towards the foundation in that area. What's worse is that it collects in front of the basement door (which is a walk-out) and during really heavy storms, will rise up to the bottom of the door and enter the basement.

I'd like to re-grade the land, however, the foundation under the addition isn't as high as the foundation under the rest of the house. In order to add fill, the foundation wall in this area would have to be built-up probably another foot or two. The walk-out would also have to be converted into a bulkhead.

I haven't found any contractors who handle this type of work. I'm in Bridgewater, MA. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I would recommend you call Walt Murphy from Beam & Structural Repair Co. Inc. at 508-584-1159. Or his website at beamrepair.com. Thanks SteveA

Thanks for the recommendation. I contacted Beam & Structural Repair Co, but they told me that this job was beyond their scope.

The gentleman told me that there are contractors out there who do this work, but that they just replace rotten or damaged beams. He was, however, unable to recommend anyone who does this type of work.

It looks like it's back to square one. If anone knows of a good contractor who can handle this job, I'd sure appreciate the reference.

Thanks.
