I am currently considering purchasing a home that has had a history of water entering the basement through the floor. The current owner built the home and had a sump pump installed to help drain the water, but that wasn't enough so they had an inside drain installed under the basement floor (Work done by Dry Co.) that drains the water into the sump pump. They say they haven?t had water in seven years.

My concerns are the loss of electricity or have the pump fail. Also, with a high ground water level should perimeter drains have been installed around the foundation footings to prevent ground erosion or even to prevent the water from getting as high as the basement floor. Should I have any concerns.

I believe if the interior system has been working for over 7 years it should be fine. I would see if the seller could transfer DryCo's warranty to you the new owner.

As far as back up from pump failure or power outages, i would recommend a Battery back Up Pump System, which is a seperate pump that will operate if your primary pump fails it will operate on 12 volt battery. I would recommend that you call our office at 1-800-649-6140 and request a free written estimate from one of our Certified Waterproofing Professionals. We have several different Back Up options for your system.
