I'm in the process of finishing off the rest of the basement, but I have a hot water heater that is over 6 years old. My main concern is that I go through the process of getting the basement fixed up and the hot water heater is going to fail on me.
We've never had a problem with it, but a friend of mine did bring that up as a possible concern. He mentioned that there are systems that will prevent this, which is basically just a tub that surrounds the heater and a pump to pick up the water in the event of a failure.
Does anyone have any idea of a similar system? Or is there other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Phil
