Steve,

I think I have cracks in the basement floor which have water coming out when we get lots of melting snow / heavy rain in the spring only . Only in the firs two weeks in April does the frozen ground start to melt and it rains heavy. I think I have water that seeps in from the foundation through the small hair like cracks. My sump pump runs every 20 minutes on the other end of the house .

I installed drains a few years back but realized that I used the wrong pipe/drain. I am in the process of digging around my house again and installing new drains.

What can I do to prevent this from happening in the early spring. This only happens when he have had a have had a lot snow in the winter and it rains heavy during the spring. Last year we did not get a drop of water due to the light winter.

When you are having your problem is when the soil particles under your basement are getting saturated with water. I would recommend running laterals under those floor cracks and tie them into the perimeter system you are already installing.

Sometimes that will help. Make sure you do not excavate down below the footings of the house. Make sure the Sump basin is at laest 22" down. Need any help in setting up your pumps call us. Thanks SteveA
