I have a 23 year old home on a slight hill. The basment "french" drain empties into the city storm drain, and water does flow from it. However, every spring I get water in the basement in several areas around the perimeter of the house. The worst location is around the city water pipe which comes in through the wall about 4" off the floor. I seem to get about 10 gallons per day at this location, but only in the spring. Last year I installed a sump pump approx. 6 feet away from this location. The pump works fine and removes a lot of water (in fact the sump hole did not dry out all summer), but did not solve the problem. I had almost no water the first 2-3 years in the house, but it has occurred every year since. Do you have any suggestions for waterproofing around the city water pipe that don't involve digging up the foundation from teh outside?
