Dear Steve,
What do I need to do if.. I have inside and external perimeter drains connected to a sub pump pit inside a pit then piped out to a pipe outside the foundation that runs down underground to a brook. The pump has run all winter off and on and now runs about every 5 minutes or so.
My concern is what if the pump fails... I have a screamer alert in place but travel a lot for business. Is there any kind of a battery backup that I could put on the pump or a pump that runs on a battery backup that I could put in the pit as a backup?
I also have a crack running through the foundation floor on one side which I am told has been there since the house was built.... but water is not an issue as long as the pump runs. I would like to finish part of the cellar but am really worried about water.
Would a sub floor help and if so what kind.. should I put in a second pump.. I am on sewerage and thought about a second pump to the sewer (don't know yet if thats legal in Maine)
