Does anyone know if french permieter drains can be snaked out or power flushed to remove the sludge that has been built up over the years?

I have french perimeter drains under the cellar floor within the house. It has worked fine for years. It looks as though the drains have built up sludge and now the drain doesn't work like it should because of it.:(

French drains as originally designed by Mr. Henry French...(they are not Parisian as most folks believe), were a great concept. The problem as you have realized by now, is they DO clog. The drains will silt over due to earth and clay and regular ole' silt.(powdered form of dirt)...
There is nothing powerful enough to blow out that blockage...after all this time. You would more likely rupture the drains fist....
Depending on how old the system is, it is either made of PVC, clay pipe, cement pipe and stone....of the home is an antique home, it could even be made of wood....(if so most likely rotted beyond recognition by now).
The system Pioneer Basement uses is way more technical than that now a days. We have designed our (Grate Drain) system to be cleaned out every year. This way the silting and clogs from the silt and common iron bacteriers are no longer an issue. We have designed the system ourselves over years of research and experience. there have been others who have tried to copy us, but can not give you the "same" protection as they can not Totally copy our design.....due to patents and patents pending etc. We use a very strong rigid design to prevent crushing and sagging over time. It is a duel channel drainge pipe. The drains are designed to custom taylor your problem. Some folks have water coming up and in, others come in from the side, etc....Our design works perfectly with any water penetration. The plastics are recycled plastics.....(proud to be green), and... we then infuse them with anti-microbial properties so the iron bacterier is not able to hold on, and grow. We come once a year, and flush out the underground drainage and pumps via air tight port holes we have designed to accompany our system. We flush with 140 degree water to kill any existing iron bacterier that even thinks of creeping in. Our design is pretty special, and once you see it, you will understand. We would be happy to come out and take a look and give you our professional opinion any time....we will not charge you for the visit. If the home had a system installed in the past....it was needed....if it is clogged, not only should you pay attention to it, but you should expect flooding from here on out until you do.
