Well, if you live in New England, you have seen quite enough snow for the month of December....Our office here in Westport Massachusetts has decided to give most all of the office workers the day off to clean up, and regroup. We will all be back at work on Tuesday the 28th. If you should have a water emergency do still call the 1-800-649-6140 number for service. We will do our best to get out there to you. For now, relax and enjoy your day off if you get one. A few suggestions from my home to yours....
..Please take breaks during your shoveling.
..If you are lucky enough to have a snow blower, keep your hands out of harms way.
..use your knees to lift heavy snow, not your back.
..clean off your entire car if you need to drive.
..DO NOT be the guy who only cleans off enough of his window to see out.....if there are two of you, you will crash into each other for sure. Your visibility will be blocked....
..when driving, go slow. Do not tail gate. if you start to skid, try not to force the car in a different direction. Most vehicles these days have traction control or some kind of anti sliding breaking device....it will feel like a pulsation in the foot peddle.(keep your foot pressed down on the break) Thats NORMAL...if you have an older car without that, you may find your breaking more effective to pulse the peddle with your foot yourself....do not SLAM on the breaks, you will skid. Please remember, no matter what your vehicle is equiped with....even 4 wheel drive.....there is nothing that works on ICE !!!! Drive Carfully if you think you are on ice.
..TELL ALL CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS that it is early in the season for thick ice on ponds. You may see snow on the top of very THIN ICE.....it does NOT mean it is SAFE at all this time of year.....PLEASE REMEMBER TO TELL THEM THIS!!!!!
above all...in all situations, expect the unexpected....
Please be careful out there!!!
